born in Belgium, he came form a family involved in visual arts. by the age of 14 he started his studies in Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. he mostly became known because he painted beautiful, elegant woman, his works beeing exhibited in Paris. by 1900 he was given the special recognition of being the fist live artist to be allowed a retrospective exhibition of his work in Brussels. thought cant be considered an impressionist, i believe he would be a light impressionist since his use of liberal paint strokes and colour. as well as enchanting detail and prologed peacefulness.
