designer loves art...Albrecht Durer...178

few think of themselves as an  "artist-prince"

This is Albrecht DΓΌrer

http://www.albrecht-durer.org/

of German nationality  he is known as the greatest German renaissance painter. his talent started from the age of 13 years old with a self-portrait, from this his father got him an apprenticeship with Wohlgemut which lasted 3 years. after that he started travelling, while on his travels he got to Italy where he was exposed to the images of Bellini and may others, that's when Italian renaissance started to influence his style. it should be noted that he also did a great deal of woodcarvings, drawing and illustrations. i have to say that personally i found his painting nothing so special, but one look at this drawings and  landscapes  where i truly see his talent come trough.

(ignore the tree time was up and i had to do something...)

designer loves art...Jeniffer Maestre...177

some things  are beautiful.. but careful about touching them...

this is Jennifer Maestre

living in Massachusetts, with an art degree. she got fascinated by the sea urchins, and worked with that concept he last year in college. the idea of something beautiful but that you would be dissuaded to touch it is the concept she likes to work with.  utilizing pencils, and a stitching technique called peyote stitch(usually used in beading) she is able to create this intricate colorful  sculptures, that even thought are colorful and inviting, you won't want to touch. the complexity of her forms and the fact that she is using color pencils is so unique and beautiful.

so after playing with geometric forms we pass on to object that have this forms, in this case rectangles.

and on a sad note, it is unfortunate the passing away of Pedro Ramirez Vazquez one of Mexico's Great Architects.

designer loves art...Giovanni Bellini...176

not many can claim to have made their city a center to the arts

this is Giovanni Bellini
http://www.wga.hu/frames-e.html?/html/b/bellini/giovanni/index.html

born in Venice, it is believed he and his brother started working in his father's workshop. he is attributed the elevation of Venice as a center of renaissance painting. although he started working with tempera he moved on to oils, medium in which he would start making his mark. he was able to add depth to color, and the play of a natural environment, making his pictures come alive. something important is that he started fussing the contour lines, which allowed him to play with the transition of light. not only is his composition extraordinary, but his ability to bring life to his subjects  is indescribable.

designer loves art...Dirk Dzimirsky...175

sometimes it takes a double look to appreciate talent

this is Dirk Dzimirsky

http://www.dzimirsky.com

living in Germany, for someone that is self taught, i am in complete awe of his work. using mostly pencil and charcoal his technique is impressive. considered part of the hyerrealism movement which is about making a piece of artwork as as close as a real photograph as possible. he describes drawing as creating layers. like all hyperrealist, he is not worried about perfection but rather in making them as living tangible person. he runs a drawing workshop once a year in Germany, hopefully i'll be luck to attend it once day.
