born in Venice, it is believed he and his brother started
working in his father's workshop. he is attributed the elevation of Venice as a
center of renaissance painting. although he started working with tempera he
moved on to oils, medium in which he would start making his mark. he was able
to add depth to color, and the play of a natural environment, making his
pictures come alive. something important is that he started fussing the contour
lines, which allowed him to play with the transition of light. not only is his
composition extraordinary, but his ability to bring life to his subjects is indescribable.
