designer loves art...Guy Lamaree...181

there are mountains of knowledge, but some create mountains from knowledge

this is Guy Lamaree

Living in Canada, with a background in fine arts, anthropology and music. he creates nature scenes  from old books. but don't be fooled by their serenity, since what he wants us to show is not only that we are not seeing the beauty nature is giving us on a daily basis,  but that this quest we all seem to be on, that we are always looking to go in deeper, know more, learn, more explore more.  but is it worth it. life after all is too short. personally i enjoyed looking though his work, because it reminded me of travel, and all the mountains i  have seen since little, and all the ideas that one had when seeing this huge giants.

designer loves art...Eugène Delacroix...180

speed is not everything but it helps if you want to leave a large collection behind you

this is Eugène Delacroix

born in France he is said to be taught by the masters himself as he spend allot of time in the louver and trying to recreate those masterpieces.  at age 34 he had the opportunity to visit Morocco which bought a change in his style, especially in the use of color, considered one of the principle faces of the romantic movement , with his exotic and emotional portrayals he also claimed to be a classist (this was also because of his feud with Ingres). after his death  more than 9000 pieces or art were found in his studio. his use of light it astounding, and the way he uses it to capture your eye and make your eye travel in a certain direction is amazing. something particular about his was his speed when working, he used to say " if you are not skillful enough to sketch a man falling out of a window during the time it takes him to get from the fifth floor to the ground, then you will never be able to produce monumental work."

designer loves art...Gabriel Dawe...179

Can you touch a rainbow?

this is Gabriel Dawe
http://www.gabrieldawe.com/contact.html

born in Mexico, means being raised in a colorful culture, but something are not as tangible  unfortunately here in Mexico its still very male orientated (machismo). so in an attempt to overthrow this, he works with fabric and string, something that is usually left to the woman in our cultures for embroidery and sewing.  his artwork combines this and architectural spaces to create the human being need for a shelter. as his pieces get bigger , more complex and even more ethereal,  we find out how much our culture really is a part of us. personally i love this, this tangible feeling of light, the structure you can see, the play of "is this real?". i really hope to see one of his installations up close.

ps i always get excited when i talk about a fellow Mexican
